BigstocK
an intensive mix between Asia and the
West. The metropolis is home to thousands
of western companies and serves as their
stepping stone into the Chinese markets.
International banks, insurance companies,
car manufacturers as well as petrochemical
and consultant companies all settled down
in the Yangtze River delta. This bundled
economic power on the east coast of China
combined with the western expats community produces a lively business environment
where youths from around the world are
able to boost their careers.
Most people who come to China start
as language teachers in one of the international schools. They connect with other
foreigners and network with well-connected Chinese, remembering the importance
of Guanxi. After some months of teaching,
they often move to sales jobs, become a
management assistant or launch a startup with their new Chinese friends. I have
heard many stories from young western
professionals who have launched successful
careers in China.
If you are interested in working in China, the country welcomes young professionals with special skills and high motivation.
You should expect many new challenges
and be open-minded for a culture you never
dreamed of. I had a fantastic experience
there and am now working on business
ventures for the Asian market with Chinese
friends. China has broadened my horizon
and inspired me to create my individual
path through life.
