Ms. Kracht doesn't hesitate to point out some of her favorite
amenities at the Baur au Lac. "Showers in our River Suites! You've
got to be in it to believe this. Plus the main kitchen where our 1844
chocolates emanate from."
The hotel has two in-house forists who decorate the premises with
more than 1,000 blooms daily. And, for the last 11 years, Ms. Kracht
has curated Art-in-the-Park, an outdoor exhibition of sculptures by
world-renowned artists. She said she was inspired to begin the venture
when speaking with Colombian fgurative master, Fernando Botero.
"He told me that the Baur au Lac is the only place in Zurich which
has such an extraordinary garden/park where wondrous works of art
can be exhibited amongst century-old trees," she explained. She noted
that Art-in-the-Park also came about as a result of her other passion writing about artists for Views, the Baur au Lac's magazine.
"Writing gives a full throttle to my emotions and tickles my heart to
the rim and it is this way too with my Art-in-the Park series. Each artist,
show, motif, hue [is] diferent. I expect nothing at each onset but I
always engage myself to be completely surprised," said Ms. Kracht.
