He started to study Interior Architecture at Grifth College in Dublin,
where he was awarded the "Academic Achievement Award for Graduating Class of 2009." But, with each project he worked on at college,
he realized he was focusing more on creating custom furniture for the
space.

After college, Eicke moved to Germany for an apprenticeship with
Polenz, a metal design manufacturer located in Leudinghausen. There,
he acquired the skills to manufacture his own studio pieces and by the
end of his apprenticeship, was ready to set out on his own. One month
after returning to the United States, he had completed 20 full-size
prototypes, and Max ID NY soon opened its doors.
